The queen of pentacles is the queen of the realm of earth. She
is supporting and nurturing, sensible and matter-of-fact, loyal and
trusting. Because the suit of pentacles also relates to financial and
business matters, she may have a keen business sense or financial
savvy. She is the "soccer mom" of the tarot, coming home from work to
hug her family, water the plants, feed the pets, make dinner, and drop
off leftovers with the homeless on the way to see her daughter portray
a tooth in the school play. If the queen of pentacles shows up in a
reading, she may be asking you to focus on your opportunities to be
caring and generous. She may be asking you to welcome someone new
into your home. Or she may be suggesting that a simple, sensible
approach is the best course of action to a problem you face.
Alternatively, she may represent a person in your life who has the
qualities that define this card.
My queen of pentacles sits in her garden on a sunny day, outside her
lovely but unpretentious home. Seeing her red door, you know you will
always be welcome. The sign next to her door is for the business she
is running out of her home. Even with her busy life, she is never too
frazzled to stop and spend some time outside. Of course, she has
remembered to bring out a blanket to keep warm, and I bet if you were
to ask her, she could come up with some crackers, tissues, and safety
pins out of that little tote bag. She pets a rabbit, symbolizing
nurturance and a love of animals, as well as motherhood and fertility.
There is no fence around her house. You are always welcome.
