7/25/06 The word of the week is: defunct. I think given the record three month lag in the word of the week, it is clear that this section of my website is defunct. It seemed like a good idea when I put it up, but I have too much great and wonderful things going on in my life to be pressured weekly by my own website. I will leave the archive up, but this is my last entry. Let's take a moment to reflect on the life of the word of the week.... and, we're done.

Word of the week archives

Welcome to Pamarama.com. I have finally decided, after years of a split professional/personal site, that my work colleagues do not need to know that I belly dance, make beads, and study the tarot, and so this website was born. If they follow the link from my professional site, that means they *want* to know this stuff. It has also given me the freedom to really focus on the important things in my non-work life without feeling that I must tuck them in some unobtrusive corner so they don't detract from my professionalism. I realized I can have both--a staid, boring, appropriate professional site (with a very subtle celtic swirlie background and an orange shirt to remind myself that I am still me after all), and this site, which is everything that one is not. I may have gone a little overboard with the daisies and goofball Pam colors, but why not, I ask you. Why not?

Pamarama.com is all about ME ME ME. Obviously the most important people in my life have had, and will continue to have, a strong influence on who that is. I do have a family site that I share with my husband at DrDesmond.com (you'll notice some Pam-ness sneaking into the color scheme over there as well, but the fact that the site has become essentially a digital photo journal of our lives is alllll John).

That leaves the Pam-A-Rama available as a room of my own, so to speak. A room I fill with ramblings, art, and general random stuff that speaks to who I am.

Enjoy...
